The ArtsWeek committee has announced the theme for ArtsWeek 2010. It is Arts and the Environment. The theme is intended to be interpreted very broadly from the global climate to physical surroundings to architecture, interior design, and environments of sound.
ArtsWeek 2010 will offer a full representation of the environment of and for the arts, especially in and around Bloomington.Interested artists are encouraged to submit proposals for ArtsWeek 2010 funding.(The application for ArtsWeek funding may be downloaded here.) Specially funded ArtsWeek events are those that fit the theme in particularly relevant or surprising ways. The maximum amount of an ArtsWeek grant is $2,500. The Anya Peterson Royce Showcase Award will increase one grant recipient's award by an additional $500 to further his or her ArtsWeek project.
 Â
The deadline for grant proposals is September 1, 2009. For more information, as well as news and other ArtsWeek updates, sign up for the ArtsWeek e-mail list.

Artist and lighting designer Rob Shakespeare creates a conversation in light, using the museum's I. M. Pei & Partner's building as his canvas. Activated at dark every night throughout the winter, Light Totem was made possible with a grant from the Indiana University New Frontiers in the Arts and Humanities Program, funded by the Lilly Endowment and administered by the Office of the Vice Provost for Research. Additional support has been provided by Robert and Sara LeBien and Bill and Nancy Hunt, and the IU Art Museum’s Arc Fund.Â
